Good Afternoon and Happy Pride Everyone.

We are living in a moment where not just he LGBTQ communty’s under attack, so many of our communities are under attack.

Our immigrant communities are under attack.

Women are under attack.

The LGBTQ community is under attack.

And so we have pushed back at the Attorney’s General’s office - we are holding the line right now in this moment.

On immigrant rights we pushed back against an unconstitutional travel ban.

We pushed back against the census question that is intended only to drive our immigrant communities further into the shadows.

We pushed back with respect to LGBTQ issues.

We pushed back at attempts to prevent people from serving in the military for no other reason but their gender identity.

We pushed back on attempts to limit title seven to say that it doesn’t apply to sexual orientation.

We pushed back on so many, so many other fronts.

We talked about Masterpiece Cake - the cake shop case - I reject the notion that the first amendment gives anybody a right to discriminate against someone based on their sexual orientation.

So not matter what’s wrong in this country, what might be going wrong at a national level, what might be going wrong in Washington DC - there’s so much that’s going right here with these students.

And it gives me so much hope, so much hope, that when I get tired at the end of the day figuring out how to push back against this unrelenting attack from Washington, it gives me so much hope to see you guys smiling and laughing and living your lives as you should live your lives without any fear of discrimination of hatred or bias.

And know this - live your lives to the fullest - we stand next to you, shoulder to shoulder, to make sure you can be the best version of yourselves.
